Discovery on YouTube
In early 2012, Beer began posting videos of herself singing covers of popular songs to her YouTube channel. On July 17, 2012, pop singer Justin Bieber shared a link to her cover of Etta James’s “At Last” with his millions of Twitter followers, commenting, “Wow. 13 years old! she can sing. great job. #futurestar.” The endorsement caused Beer to trend globally on Twitter and brought her significant media attention.
Following this viral exposure, Bieber signed Beer to Island Records, the label he was with at the time. His manager, Scooter Braun, also took her on as a client.

On September 12, 2013, Beer released her debut single, “Melodies.” The accompanying music video featured a guest appearance by Justin Bieber. She released her second single, “Unbreakable,” on June 17, 2014.
After parting ways with Island Records, Beer independently released her debut extended play (EP), As She Pleases, on February 2, 2018. The EP featured the singles “Dead,” “Say It to My Face,” and “Home with You.” “Home with You” became a notable success, reaching the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart, making Beer the only female solo artist on the chart at the time without a major music label.
