Early life and family
Jordana Brewster was born on April 26, 1980, in Panama City, Panama. Her mother, Maria João, is a former Brazilian swimsuit model who appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1978, and her father, Alden Brewster, is an American investment banker. Her paternal grandfather, Kingman Brewster Jr., was an educator and diplomat who served as the president of Yale University and as the United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Brewster’s family moved to London, England, shortly after her birth and later relocated to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, when she was six years old. At the age of ten, she moved to Manhattan, New York City. She attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart and later graduated from the Professional Children’s School. Brewster then attended Yale University, graduating in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
Career Beginnings
Brewster began her acting career in daytime television. In 1995, she made her debut with a one-episode role in All My Children. That same year, she was cast in the recurring role of Nikki Munson on As the World Turns. She appeared in over 100 episodes of the soap opera from 1995 to 2001 and earned a nomination for Outstanding Teen Performer at the 1997 Soap Opera Digest Awards for her work on the show. In 1998, she made her feature film debut in the science fiction horror film The Faculty, directed by Robert Rodriguez.
The Fast and the Furious
Brewster’s breakthrough role came in 2001 when she was cast as Mia Toretto in the action film The Fast and the Furious. The film, which also starred Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, was a major commercial success. Since she did not have a driver’s license at the time of filming, she took driving lessons during production.
She reprised her role as Mia Toretto in several sequels of the franchise, including Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), Furious 7 (2015), F9 (2021), and Fast X (2023). Personal life
Jordana Brewster met film producer Andrew Form on the set of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. They became engaged in November 2006 and married on May 6, 2007. The couple has two sons, both born via surrogacy: Julian and Rowan. Brewster filed for divorce in 2020, and it was finalized in June 2021.
In September 2022, Brewster married Mason Morfit, the CEO of ValueAct Capital.
