Early Life and Family

Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson was born on January 10, 2000, in Waco, Texas. He attended Midway High School in his hometown, where he began his football journey. Early in his high school career, Hodges-Tomlinson played running back before transitioning to the defensive side of the ball. During his prep career, he recorded 155 tackles, five interceptions, and six pass breakups.

He is the nephew of Pro Football Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who also attended TCU. The elder Tomlinson served as a mentor to Hodges-Tomlinson from a young age. Despite his family connection and performance, he was rated as a three-star recruit. After receiving offers from schools like Baylor and Kansas State, Hodges-Tomlinson committed to play college football at Texas Christian University (TCU).

Collegiate Career at TCU

Hodges-Tomlinson played for the TCU Horned Frogs from 2019 to 2022. As a freshman in 2019, he appeared in 12 games and made eight tackles. He established himself as a starter during his sophomore season in 2020, starting all 10 games and recording 26 tackles. That year, he led the Big 12 conference with 13 pass breakups and was named a second-team All-American by the Associated Press.

He continued to excel in his junior year in 2021, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors for the second consecutive season. In 12 games, he registered 41 tackles, two interceptions, and returned one for a touchdown.

Award-Winning Senior Season

In his final season at TCU in 2022, Hodges-Tomlinson delivered a standout performance that earned him national recognition. He was awarded the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award as the best defensive back in college football. He was also recognized as a first-team All-American. For the third straight year, he received first-team All-Big 12 honors.

During the 2022 season, he played a key role in TCU’s run to the College Football Playoff National Championship game. He amassed a career-high 50 tackles, three interceptions, a forced fumble, and 15 pass breakups. Pro Football Focus graded him as the top cornerback in the Big 12, noting he allowed the lowest passer rating among the conference’s corners.

Professional Career

The Los Angeles Rams selected Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, with the 182nd overall pick. In his rookie season, he appeared in 15 games for the Rams. On August 27, 2024, the team placed him on season-ending injured reserve. The Rams later waived Hodges-Tomlinson. Following his release, the San Francisco 49ers claimed him off waivers.
