His father is African-American and his mother is of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent. Booker was raised in Grand Rapids by his mother while his father played professional basketball internationally. Booker attended Grandville High School in Michigan for his freshman year before moving to Moss Point, Mississippi, to live with his father, who had retired and become an assistant coach at Moss Point High School.
